I had forgotten about this tree until I saw Sam’s recliner with the bent personality.

Whenever I pass this tree in our woods, it makes me think of an elephant’s head – or Paul Bunyan’s golf club – or, from the right angle, a swan – or,…

You know Bob, I was sitting here looking at this shot and thinking what all it could be. It's very unusual. Makes you wonder what caused it. But I can also see what could pass for a flag blowing in the wind. Of course I like the Paul Bunyan's golf club notion better.

Saw this whilst out walking this afternoon.

Reminds me of General Vladimir and his Moscow Rules (from "Smiley's People")

The car club I'm in made their annual trip to Parker's Maple Barn as it is prime maple syrup making season. They have a restaurant, gift shop, and their "sugar shack".

Unusual as they use the old style tree taping and an old wood fired evaporator:

A tourist place for sure, with a quaint little gift shop, and some unusual things on trees:

Good set here Paul! I can almost smell the fragrance in those first two. Neat looking tree. on the third one.

We are cooking a Turkey for dinner, that is unusual in March.
The grocery store does not have the metal skewers in stock which we usually use,
so had to resort to drastic measures to hold the stuffing in.

It is a really interesting process, and depending on the temperature range and suger content it ant take 20-40 gallons of sap to make only one gallon of syrup. Here are some containers that they use to hold the sap (which is like water) that is siphoned into the evaporator unit:

On the left are little jars with five of the common grades:

Paul, this is very informative. I would never have imagined 20-40 gallons of sap for a gallon of syrup! Wow!

The parade had some unusually dressed bands, like these bag pipers...

I love the guys mustache. There were the "traditional" marching bands, like the Londonderry High School band, which I found out is unusual.

They are the largest in New England (over 300 members), seventh largest East the the Mississippi River, and have played at the Tournament of Roses parade, at the 2008 Olympics, and every year at the New York city St. Patty's day parade.

Not bad for a town of under 25K people!

I agree with you Paul. That's a cool mustache!

Not the most technically beautiful picture but it is unusual. Came into the office today and it looks like I need new ANT-ivirus for my desktop. That red stuff on top of my computer is dirt, so who knows how big the infestation is. Not sure what I'm going to do about this yet...

Jin, you have my sympathies. That looks like a serious ant infestation. :Teeth:

I noticed some Highland cattle as I was driving down the road. I know that they are common in some areas of the world but they are somewhat unusual in my little area. I couldn't get close enough for a good shot so I had to really crop the photo.

Make a wish

I really did not expect the wishbone from our turkey dinner to wind up in some telephone lines running next to a farm:

I ran into this classic at a local park.
