I had 2 contrasting images planned, one roaring and one wispering but the morning clouds have interfered with getting the roaring image.

Looks like a pretty quiet place, Tom. Beautiful photograph.

For a twist on the theme...a local brewery (Red Hook) was giving out glasses advertising one of their beers...

Well captured Paul! Nice sparkle you caught in the bottom of the glass. :)

An auditory delight, the roar of the diesel engine, the click clack of the wheels, the ding, ding, ding of the gate and the train whistle:

Very nicely done Paul, and an excellent interpretation for "silence".

Patti, I really don't like to show my ignorance. But this is the first time I've ever heard of ""anechoic chamber"". That's interesting. Thanks for helping me to broaden my horizons! :)

Returning home, changing train... they're still working on the new tracks. But still, it's more quiet, calmer, at night...

A break:

Nice job here Roland! I'm sure by looking at this one there is quite the contrast between the "silence" of night time and the "sound" in the daytime. :)

So true. I really like the graphic elements and shots of red, white and blue (and I'm not even American!).

Tom, I have been thinking how to characterize what works for me in this picture.
The color, the reflections, the composition.
Finally, just have to say it is a beautiful image!!!
