CS #499 - Happy 10th Anniversary CS

Hello and welcome to the 10th Anniversary CS. I know it seems hard to believe but the Collective Shoot is actually ten years old and still going strong. Of course most 10 year-olds are. To make this a little different as part of the celebration our theme this week is up to each of you. That's right you choose your own theme for the week. You can go back in CS history and pick an old favorite or something totally new that you've been wanting to do.

Normal CS rules still apply. I ask that once you choose a theme you stick with it for the entire week. One theme per person. I've changed themes but will pick one later today. I couldn't think of appropriate samples. Anyway have fun with it.

Hello I'm back with my theme for this week. I had a theme originally that I had liked but in preparing the post and samples I realized that the wrong message was being delivered on shooting dates. I reworded my theme sever times and felt the same at each review. Nope wrong message and since the period in which the images are shot is so important to maintain, I did not want to create any misunderstanding.

Art's CS 10th Anniversary Theme - COLOR .

I like colorful things and especially enjoy colorful flowers and plants but there are lots of other ways to use color to enhance our images and our lives. One thing that I have been wanting to learn is this really neat selective color process where a B&W or Sepia image is created with a single colored focal point. No idea how to do it, so I'm off to YouTube.

This is a photograph of a postcard sent to me by a friend in London. I love the colors. Looks like an old oil painting. It's got a really nice linen like finish too.

I love red and I love to putter around in the gardens. So once in a while I add something with a little color to the garden areas.

Looks like I'll be out this CS. My iMac was not reading SD cards, so I took it to Apple. They are going to test it for a few days, and let me know what they find. Looks like a hardware issue (it failed immediately on diagnostics). I'll have to live vicariously through others' posts.

With this week starting exams for school, which also means the start of summer I thought I would do things that I like about exam time(well mainly the extra time after we get out of the exam) and summer.
At school we have an exam in the morning then get out with a half today after the exam.
So to start it off I took a quick shot of what was left of a lunch I got after school with some friends when I got home, with a time stamp as compared to normally getting home around 4:25.

Those are neat, Jin. The dahlia and the tomato jump out of the screen. [Have you tried any 3-D images (anaglyphs) with that lens?]

I like those a lot. Shows things in their environment. I've tried this approach a few times but was never as successful as you. Perhaps I need a 7.5mm lens.

I got out to a bog boardwalk today and then a bit of prairie. I'll start with pinks and reds.

Nice set Larry. I like the DoF control and bokeh on the shots.

I'll continue with wildflowers today, white this time.

1.Canada dogwood. This small forest floor plant is very common here, carpeting the ground in many areas. It's also called Bunchberry for the clump of red berries it produces.
It's in the same genus as the large-flowered dogwood tree many of you in the eastern USA know.

2. Labrador tea is a small evergreen (as in the leaves persist for more than a year) shrub that grows in moist areas and bogs.

3. Buckbean is another plant that grows with it's feet wet.
