Durlesbach
Eh? What? Where? ...
Durlesbach is a very little village somewhere in Schwabian - the bigger region I'm living.
This village got famous by the nursery rhyme "Auf der schwäbschen Eisenbahne". OK, I'll try a translation: "Riding the Schwabian railroad".
You have to know that this railroad from Ulm to Friedrichshafen stopped at every village, don't matter how small it was.
The legend tells, one day there was a farmer who was very closefisted came back from market. He had bought a billy-goat and don't wanted to pay a seperate ticket for it.
So he tied it at the back of the last waggon. Imagine what happed...
This memorial was erected by Alfons Walz in 1991. He bought that train in Poland and ordered the figurines from the artist Rene Auer. To honor Mr. Walz, the conductor got the face of him.
