This Purple Dragon plant has been growing at the edge of my lawn for years. I have been able to avoid it with my lawnmower most of the time.

With a bit of time to spare in Washington, DC, I paid a visit to the United States Botanic Garden near Capitol Hill. Apart from the first image below, all are from the rose garden, shot with the Helios 44-2.

Plenty of water and sun are helping the flowers in our flower bed, behind the house...

What a combination: the Botanic Garden; a very fine lens (love its bokeh); and your eye for composition. Good stuff again, Andy!

That's a new (and beautiful!) flower for me. Does its name imply that it is found at altitude?
Yes--this one was at about 5,000 ft asl near Mt Rainier. i have attached a photo taken in 1985 that shows how they mass--a glorious high country meadow gift!

Thanks, Eric. I can’t believe it has taken me this long to get around to seeing the Botanic Garden.

In any case, I have you to thank, since my inspiration to go resulted from this CS.
