So, as you see from my examples, there is quite a bit of scope for creativity here.

Have fun, and I look forward to your photos!

Cool theme...and interesting examples. I hope I can squeak some time to take some detailed photos :)

Oh, boy, I'm having SO much fun here!!!! These new lenses are not only really nice to shoot with -- they make great subjects for pointing up detail as well!

Thanks, Jim! I haven't yet tried the "Big Kahuna," the 135mm f/1.8, I've just been going nuts with the macro lenses, especially that 90mm. I had been lusting after that lens for so long.....and it really is worth it! For those interested in details, most of these were shot on the dining table, with a piece of black foam core as backdrop to conceal my messy living room, and very simply lit with a ProMaster Super-Slim rechargeable LED light panel. When I was driving over to the store yesterday it occurred to me that I hadn't given any thought to lighting, and of course that IS important in macros and still life images. I really didn't want to get a flash unit, so the woman at the store suggested this, and I really like it. The thing is small, but not teeny-tiny, and it provides adjustable levels of light, pretty good, actually. One can simply stand it on the table or can put it on the camera itself in the hotshoe or can put it on a tripod or light stand. This works very nicely for my purposes, and is more adjustable than the LED flashlights I've occasionally pressed into service when needing more than natural light. I am thinking of getting a second one of these now, it's pretty neat.
