Photo made by my daughter with my camera.

And here are our daughter and granddaughter on the same hike.

As you can see, it was a pretty steep climb...1100 feet in two miles up. Then the reverse, of course.

The view from the top looks down on the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport.

Thanks, Mike! This is one of several images that I shot this past week which will be appearing when I post in my weekly 52-Weeks thread tomorrow.... It occurred to me the other day that I should pull together some of my most interesting abstracts and do a thread in the Abstracts subforum. Just haven't gotten around to that yet...... This one would definitely be included!

Was surely worth the climb for that view, Jim.

Earlier, Theo was pointing it at the ground, and then trying to step on the circle of light, but it would move and he couldn't. I was laughing too hard to get a quick video.
Cute kid. Enjoy the fun.

Cool abstract shot. What is it?

Thanks! It's a metal Slinky standing in a slightly curved brushed-silver dish, with a strand of multicolored LED "fairy" lights suspended over it..... Depending upon how I positioned myself and the camera, the lights did interesting things with the subject. The day I did this was a dreary, kind of dark day anyway so I did not use room lighting, just what was coming from the teeny-tiny little lights. I had a lot of fun with this!

Yep, that Slinky has been pressed into service as a model several times and I never tire of trying yet something else new....

I went on a photo walk with a friend of mine on Wednesday morning. The historic town we visited had these wonderful stone stairs sandwiched between two stone row houses. It made for a nice location to take portraits.
