I find that the white in the shirt mirrors the white in his beard and hair; provides a visual echo or balance.@Terri French -- Even in monochrome, the busy pattern in the shirt is a little distracting from his face. Consider toning down the large white squares in the shirt.
I think I’ll just try a better photo when he is wearing something more plain. I’ve been having fun playing around with B&W. Thanks for getting me started on it again!@Terri French -- Even in monochrome, the busy pattern in the shirt is a little distracting from his face. Terrific black and white Terri. The other day, in this CS, I shared a photo of Greg that I took with my new (to me) 85 f1.8 S lens. It is the only photo I have taken of a person with this lens so far. I was happy with the sharpness, but the mixed color lighting in the photo really bothered me. Since so many on the forum have been helping me with my B&W conversion, I decided to try my hand at this one. It's not a great background and the light was low. But the conversion really improved the image IMHO. Thanks to all of you who are helping me learn when and how to convert. So I hope sharing a better version in this CS is appropriate.View attachment 1679248

All from our three season porch, which we have been busy cleaning up, along with the rest of our house, as we are preparing to search for a more retirement friendly home and plan on selling our home. Amazing how much crud one collects.
