I mentioned I had solar panels installed, and the batteries were on order. Well,

I got new batteries!
Excellent. Now if you get about a hundred more cells like these, you can parallel them into a bank to run through your inverter to make two pieces of toast before they are discharged.

 I get so many of those 9V batteries, from changing them each year for smoke detectors, and have often thought about connecting them (in series) as you can plug the + into the - and chain them along....

This is not quite macro, but it was made with my Z 16-50 lens at very near minimum focus distance.

Mrs. T. says the common name for this flower is Indian Blanket. We found several of these beside the trail on our walk this morning.

Latin name is Gaillardia pulchella.

Had a few minutes to sneak into my wife's garden. I am rarely allowed in this area as whenever I touch a plant ... it dies!!

There are a few flowers...

All except the one of rosemary was taken at the macro setting on my EF24-70 f4 L.

Although probably not as good as a dedicated "macro" lens, I think this does a really good job!!

Cheers!!

My wife and I have been hosts to Monarch Butterfly caterpillars this summer. Many have made it through the cycle to become butterflies, while this fellow will not get the opportunity.
Nature can be a cruel mistress.

I also spotted an intruder—or maybe it's a guest. A bug is a bug to me.

Great depiction of Nature, who is simultaneously ruthless and beautiful.

Great pair of photos. I especially like the first one.

Those are beautiful. I especially like the zinnia against the dark background.
Thank you both. I used to do a lot of macro work and took pains with it (tripod, m-up, remote release, etc). Now I pretty much just free hand everything. I set the shutter on rapid and fire away while I lean into the subject. I'll often use a flash, especially if insects are involved (as in the bug shot). Makes for much better mobility, quicker reactions and it's way easier. :)
