I am going to have to take advantage of the exception and post a slightly older shot of mine, because I love it.

The men wear brightly colored feathers to attract the gals.

But once they've had their way, they lose interest and the little ladies are on their own. They have to build a nest, tend the eggs until they hatch, and feed the chicks until they fledge.

They don't have time for fashion... and bright clothes would just make them easy targets for predators while they nest. But when the light hits them just right, you can see they wear gold under their feathers.
Oh, Frank! These are magnificent! I love the nest photo...and the last one with the subtle shimmer is so dramatic. How did you capture these?

I can see why you love it. That's a wonderful shot...and I can hear it, too! I always hear Moonlight Sonata in piano pictures, but I'm sure everyone has their own song they hear. Thanks for adding this!

Glad you enjoyed them, Michelle. The nest was shot on location. The other two shots were taken in my backyard, right next to the feeder.

Wow! That's some pep talk...and the trombone and crowd shots are very "loud" as well. All three of these have very distinct and interesting sounds. Thank you for adding them!

Now I need to try to find a fence to add...hard to do in a new neighborhood. No one has built any, yet. I may have to get creative...

Thanks Michelle!

The third shot of the high school kids at "Fang Fest" were actually the loudest of all! Deafening!

The trombone is the July 4th parade which goes in front of my house. In election years past I've met George Bush, Joe Lieberman, Bill Richardson, Bill Bradley, Duncan Hunter (who?), Bieden, Dole, and several others marching in this parade!
