Cultivation in upper reaches of Himalayas

Discussion in 'Landscapes, Architecture, and Cityscapes' started by ccroy, Jun 29, 2008.

  1. Rice is extensively grown in the upper reaches of Himalayas in the fields where step cultivation is the only way. The holdings are small and generally cater to the requirements of a small family. The fields are generally rain fed and irrigation is through the water harnessed from the small falls. When one looks down from the top the fields look like paintings on canvass.

  2. Interesting patterns. I would like to see more of the dwellings in the area. Thanks for sharing your image.
