I have been messing around a bit at my son's football games. He is a lineman, and I am having difficulty coming up with decent ways to shoot him. I am shooting with a 180/f2.8 on a D80, mostly handheld.

A couple shots are below, any criticism/ideas/scorn would be much appreciated.

Dan, any chance you could save these w/ EXIF info? Or, let us know what your settings were (ISO, Shutter speed, aperture, etc). If you're using PhotoShop Elements, don't "Save for Web" as it strips EXIF data, use the standard "File Save".

And, if you could post a larger image, 800 pixels on the longest side, it will also help...

from what I can see, #1 is obviously underexposed, but #2 & #3 aren't too bad, considering the sun's at their backs, it seems like the faces are exposed well...esp the RB in #2.
thanks...

Thanks Chris. These are coming off my flickr page, so I don't know why the data isn't coming along with them. I also am too stupid to know how to post a bigger image, sorry.

The exif is:

#1 - 1/1600 - f5.6 - iso800 (shot in automatic mode - using auto iso)

#2 - 1/4000 - f2.8 - iso900 (aperture priority, also auto iso)

#3 - 1/4000 - f2.8 - iso540 (same as #2, above)
