D200 5 fps useful tip from DPReview...

  1. Hi all
just discovered the tip to get the effective 5 fps from D200. Til now, it was fast but not at all the 5 fps. I casually looked at a post where they were just debating this. None could get the 5 fps, until they did the 2 buttons reset and then set AF-C + FPS priority + CH. This way, it works, I have five pictures in a gap of only one second.

P.S.: it' useless to say that a 2-buttons reset means that you have ALL your personal settings RESET to factory defaults.

What about doing manual focus - then those menu options are obsolete surely?

  4. My experience with AF-C/FPS is the number of OOF shots can easily offset the increased frame rate.
I recently shot an auto race with FPS priority (not intentionally, somehow the setting was on and I didn't realize it).
Out of 750+ shots I deleted over 600 and many of the ones I kept were marginal.
I'd gladly have exchanged those 600 for 300 that were in focus.

This could just be me, on fast moving subjects there's no way my old eyes can handle the job so I must rely on the AF.

  5. What is the actual FPS of a non modified D200?

FWIW, when I owned a D200 I thought it was just slightly faster than my D70. At the time I thought that the 5 FPS wasn't really accurate.

    Thanks

  6. Never looked at it carefully, but I guess it was more or less 5 shots every 2-3 seconds more or less.
