A friend told me his problem:

"When I use my D2X in combination with 28-70 AND SB-800 my images are significant sharper. When I don't use my flash rather soft."

I do think this is a stange problem. How can he solve this problem?

    Can you help my friend?

Does he still get the softness when his camera is securely supported on a tripod, or when he is able to use very fast shutter speeds?

The combination D2X and the 28-70 should be giving excellent quality images, with or without flash. Sounds like a user issue to me.

I'd be interested to know what the shutterspeed was for the non-flash shots. Probably camera-shake is the problem.

    Hi everyone,

He even did the test on a tripod with self-timer.

Tomorrow we will know what the problem was. He will bring it to the nikon-center.

    thx for the reply.

What is the subject that he is shooting? The light from flash is a pinpoint source, smaller light source will show smaller details. Could this be what he is seeing? Got any example pics with exif we could see?
