D2X and SB-80 Flash

Discussion in 'Nikon DX DSLR' started by dburanich, May 3, 2005.

  1. I currently use an SB-80 flash on my D2X. Exactly what are the advantages if I were to upgrade to the SB-800?

You may wish to refer to the following website for a comprehensive comparison:

I believe the biggest difference is the ability for SB-800 to do iTTL, something the older generation of Nikon flash cannot.

Another big difference is the wireless remote capabilities that the SB800 offers. For that you'll need more than one, however. I bought two.

You can buy SB800's for about $275 after Nikon's rebate. Note that last week I sold my SB-80DX flash on eBay for $200. In effect, my SB800 cost me $75. These old flashes hold their value pretty well.
