D2X rubber stating to peel

Discussion in 'Nikon DX DSLR' started by hillrg, Jan 1, 2006.

  1. Like my D2H, my 9 month old D2X rubber is starting to peel away over the memory card door. Nikon put a new door on last time. I thought they had this fixed...

Anyone else encountered this on the D2X?

Hi Rory, yeah mine too! I glued it back on myself with contact adhesive.

Yes, occurs after about 6 months. Seems a very difficult high-tech issue to solve
  4. I guess contact cement is the solution. Doesn't seem right to have to glue parts back onto a flagship professional camera.

Its really great, my camera got a new door too ...rubber ist going off again after 5000 Exp.

  6. I asked the techs about this when I had my rubber replaced this morning - apparently you can't have soft and stays on; if you want soft rubber, it will stretch - this means that eventually it'll come off, glued down or not.

Use a piece of gaffer to tape over the rubber, the rubber expands when it absorbs water/perspiration over time.

The MB-D100's grip and D2H's doors are susceptible to that.

My friend's D2H's rubber is also dropping out soon.
