I'm astonished at how blazingly fast this combo focuses. I would say about 95% of the shots from the day were in focus... wow!

Here's a few of my favs, I'm completely open to CC.

very nice shots
that worked out to be a great combo for you

#s 1 and 7... without being able to see the face, the pictures don't "look" as good
in focus
nice action
but.... seeing the face makes them better to most viewers.... FWIW

i agree, i think what i liked about those shots was it kind of looked like he was jumping to nowhere..... But great insight and i will keep that in mind. I find myself enjoying the pics more when i see their faces, and it's good to know others do as well.

Thanks

Hey Leo, you are right, the shots are sharp! I use that same killer combo for baseball and basketball. Nice series. Just out of curiousity, what AF settings, metering, SS did you use? 51pt, 21pt, dynamic I assume? Metering? Shutter speed?

Hi Harry, I actually experimented.

Most of them were shot 51pt 3d tracking, i was using aperature priority at F4, and i was using spot metering for the most part. BUT, if you have questions on specific pics i'll look up the exif data, i hate that "save for web" in PS strips the data off :( Grr!

I'm not sure what you mean by SS though...

These are few that I caught last summer at the Washougal national.. I was shooting a Nikon D2x and a 70-200mm f/2.8
