Flash commander mode is great!!!
I'm getting the settings where I like them. It's not as
complicated as I thought.....yet

I took a shot at f/22 at the clear blue sky and the sensor looks
really good.
The camera did have 5539 actuations as described.

That box pic is great......
I kept my D300 after getting the D700 and very glad I did. It still gets a lot of use. Congrats on the cam, it will last you a long time. (Try to wear it out!)

The Fn button by the lens. I set it to bracketing and spot metering. I know simple things but I think that's so convenient.

When I first picked up my D300 a few years ago, I was disappointed that there was no longer a dedicated bracketing button where the D200 did have one, but once I figured out that little button by the lens, bracketing is still easy. 39,100 images on mine, and it’s still ticking.

Spot metering? I use the metering selector on the back of the camera.

Congrats, Tom. I love mine, and can't see parting with it for a long time.

I do exactly the same thing . . .

There is
Func
Func + dials

I have it

Func= spot
Func + dials= bracketing

Simple quick press of a button I don't need to move the camera from my eye to change it.
What do you have it set at?

I use that button by the lens for bracketing only. Push the button, then use the dial to set it.

Spot metering with the dial on back of the camera, but spot metering and bracketing don’t usually go together. I use Matrix metering with bracketing.
