Can someone tell me what ISO on the D300 would give the same image quality as the D80 at 400 Iso.

I am particularly interested in the quality of the shadow details when the image is enlarged to 66%

Not to sound naive , but I would think that ISO 400 on the D300 should give similar (or better) results to 400 on the D80.

I do expect that Iso 400 on the D300 would be a bit better.

The question I was trying to ask is iso 800 or 1600 on the D300 just as good or better than iso 400 on the D80, when looking at the shadow areas of a picture.

I can dig up some D80 pics, but this was number 1 reason I upgraded to D300. When I shot indoor volleyball, I hesitated going above 800 with D80. Now with D300, 1600 is my max ISO. Pixelization is very good on crops on the 300 at 1600 with good exposure.

That would be great. I would like to see them...

I don't really have any good pics to compare at ISO 400 from my D80, but let me tell you, the D300 produces way better images at ISO 400 then the D80

I did some extensive tests and would rate the D80's 400 to be equal to the D300 at ISO 640-720 (about 1/2-2/3 stop better). So, "about 1 stop" is pretty close, though it's not quite that much better.
