    I'm new to shooting field sports and will be using the D300 and my new 400 f/2.8 VR tomorrow for pretty much the first time. For youth soccer what is the recommendation for the AF settings:

    A3- Dynamic AF area
    A4- Focus tracking with lock-on
  2. showoff :biggrin:

    I tend to avoid Dynamic, prefer to stick to single Pt AF. I have found there are too many other things in close proximity that can fool the AFS.

    If you did go Dynamic, I'd suggest sticking to 9 Pt or 21 max. Randy may have different advice as he actually shoots that combo.

    I turn off A4.

    Looking forward to the pics.

    A4 = normal
    21 Pt Dynamic

    Works for me.
