We all know about the D50 but many here still poo poo the 18-200.

btw, this is the D50 I got used for $225 after I sold my 1st one. In comparison the 105mm filter I got for my 120-300 was $190 shipped.

why don't people like the 18-200? (I was considering either that or the 18-135 for my short glass)

thats a fine photo you've got there :)

Im seriously considering this for my D50, along with a bunch of primes. Just seems to useful not to have.

i'm not sure
the optical tests (I laff as I type that) show it as a not great lens but I have always felt that you have to shoot a lens to know. For me it doesn't get used alot but always does a good job when it does. With VR & AFS and that range it's amazing. And wide open at 200mm it is just as good.

i like it alot on the d50
I did some volunteer work today and left the d3, d300 and a lot of other glass at home and took the d50 & 18-200....nice and light and VR means i don't have to flash sleeping babies

Yeah, I would love to sink the money into a big pro zoom lens, but for what I like to do, it doesn't make to much sense. Throw this in my bag with a couple primes and it should make a great kit for vacations and stuff. Oh congrats on the D50 too, I keep thinking I should replace mine but I just like the thing to much.

I had the 18-200vr on my D50 for 2 1/2 years. IMO it is a great lens...seems like we have to qualify that by sayings its an "all around" lens. Now it spends a lot of time on my D200....and it performs even better!!

Great picture Randy!!

Sandy's try with the 18-200VR...

When I got my D200, Sandy got the D80.
When I got the Beast, Sandy got the 18-200VR.

When we went to Huntsville, Sandy took these with the D80 & the 18-200VR.

They are really good for a point and shoot gurl!!!! I will have to really watch that she does not take over my efforts!!! LOL!!!
