All images taken with the 300mm f/2.8 VR.

It's very easy to fall in to the trap of wanting to "upgrade" from APS-C to FF, but for shooting sports/action, especially in good light, I really don't know what FF would offer me over the D500. It's such a good camera IMO.

I posted these in the Bird forum but thought I'd post here, because I just love what the D500 is capable of.

D500 and 200 - 500mm lens for both. Click to zoom.

A swan (Cygnus cygnus) putting on a display to scare away a couple of swans of the species Cygnus olor. The newcomers decided to go elsewhere...

I'm posting this photo because I was so impressed that I was able to salvage anything at all from this shot. I had taken some shots of a bright white great egret the day before which had caused me to dial in negative four stops of exposure compensation. I forgot to reset the EC the next day and took this photo with those four stops of negative EC still dialed in. I quickly noticed my error and corrected it, but while I was doing that this heron flew away and I thought I wouldn't have a photo of it. But when I downloaded the photo to my computer and brought the exposure up, this is what I was able to get. Not the greatest shot, but I was amazed it turned out as good as it did considering how bad I screwed it up.
