2nd day with this camera and still NO clue what i'm doing with it, but it's still FUN!!!

because of dof i'm finding it somewhat difficult to get in close at an angle wide open and still get both eyes in focus, but it's fun tryin ..lol

Nice, Nute! And congrats on your new toy.

Sam looks like he could use a couple more cups of coffee.

  6. Well Nute, for someone who does not know what he is doing, you're doing all right!!

  7. Nute,

I too am finding that 1.4 on an FX camera is razor thin. As always, nice shots.

yup. i'm finding dof wise, shooting 1.4 on fx is like shooting 1.0-1.2 on dx:eek:

You're doin' just fine, Mark. You haven't skipped a beat at all . Glad you got the D700!!

  16. True, but the 85/1.4 is not a new sports car for you. You've had it a long time. The D700 is your new sports car, so taking it to ISO 6400 is more akin to your analogy. Stop the lens down to f/2 or so, and boost your ISO. That way you still get creamy bokeh, as well as both eyes in focus, AND you get to drive your new sports car at a higher speed.

Your shots look 3-D. I think thats awesome.

  19. Nute, I want to see MORE with this combo!

  20. I think you might be finished with shooting at f1.4 with that combo..... Congratulations on your new camera. I, too, would like to see more DOF. Have fun......
