Very usable shots Jeff, I think you did well to manage the lighting. About what percentage of your shots were keepers?

  4. looks like it did well Jeff...flash on #4, but not on 5/6?

  7. Nice job on these Jeff.
The acceptable high ISO shooting ability from the Nikon FF cams D3/D700 continue to amaze me.

These look pretty darned good to me Jeff. I would be very happy if I could get this quality of shots on Friday night.

    Well done.

Hard to say...maybe 40-50%, but shooting HS is frustrating, even with a D700. Maybe if after my skills improve. Keep in mind, my keeper rate isn't a reflection on the D700.
I had some OOF shots, (my fault) some badly composed shots, some underexposed (not watching meter...etc).
I would say I have more keepers since I could shoot at higher ISOs.

Early kickoff, 7 pm...not quite dark. So I just left the flash off for awhile, to see what I could do. This was in the first quarter. I didn't leave the flash off very long. (maybe 10 minutes real time, not game time).

Agreed. Nikon's been on a roll the last two years, and I'm very happy with my Nikons. The only downside is I can't blame so-so (or bad) photos on my equipment's limitations anymore.
Got to take all the blame now.

Jeff, I think the NR made an appreciable difference, the images are cleaner without smoothing out the detail too much.
