Is anyone finding the D700 to be over-exposing compared to the D300?
Mine appears to be fine.
I use both bodies, no exposure problems with my D700.
I've had a couple of setups where I thought my D700 was over exposing a little - but this was it's first outing and it might just have been me messing up somewhere on the controls.
All of the Nikons that I had overexposed by a 1/3, so is my D700.
It exposes the same as my D300, no problems for me.
Each camera is going to expose differently than the next. Just how it is.
When I started using my D700 I felt like it was over exposing a little. This is compared to other camera brands I have used. If it bothers you you can adjust the exposure in the menu.
Just the opposite for me. My D300 overexposed big time. My D700 seems perfect.
My D70 always underexposed. I always had my exposure compensation set to +.3.
With my D700, I have the exposure compensation set to -.3.
I find it a little hot, I tend to use -0.3EV and often -0.7EV.
Can't compare it the D300 directly, but I found that hot as well.
I prefer the metering from the D200 / S5 Pro to either, Nikon definately seems to have biased their metering with less emphasis on highlight preservation I feel, towards lollipop colour brightness with their last few DSLRs (starting with the D80 I reckon).
