just sprung for a D700, consignment sale from a dealer here in Tokyo. thinking maybe I got burned and maybe I didn't. basically I have 10 days to check it out, but no warranty as such. Returns if not 'faulty' are not allowed by most camera stores in Tokyo.

yes it has a high shutter count....they 'did not know' the shutter count before I sprung for it. suffice to say WELL OVER the 150k. the camera itself looks a lot newer than the shutter count indicates though. no worn buttons or rubber coming off.

what I want to know is, if the camera's shutter is replaced, does it reset the shutter count? I'm thinking not. wondering if the previous owner had the shutter replaced at 150k and then went on to shoot again? I know getting any reliable history from a dealer is impossible, unless we are talking collectibles
