i was shooting with a d100 and using raw file output...man, forget it...it was very very slow...so back to jpeg...

my question is shooting raw with d70's speed fast?...do you have to wait all the time?...or is it a jpeg body?

Go into your D100's menus, select the second one down on the left, the camera icon called the shooting menu. Then select the Image Quality Menu, then select NEF (Raw) from that menu.

Now select RAW NEF (Raw) and NOT RAW Comp. NEF (Raw) which is compressed Raw.

For some reason it takes a D100 about 40 seconds to compress a Raw file, and then Nikon (in it's infinite wisdom) set compressed Raw as the default!!!!!

Regular (not-compressed, file size=9.5Meg) Raw writes as fast as Jpeg.
