Bring on the D780... then drop the price of the D750 to $750! Too good to pass up.
Pic #7 appears to me to be an additional battery pack under the camera, not a vertical grip.
Agree completely. Seems like a price point with too many alternatives even within Nikon's line. If the D750 drops under $1K, it will make a great value statement. The D7500 was a weird "upgrade" over D7200, this seems similar. The D500 is a great camera, but still seems to be a bit over-priced to me. With the D780 coming in just under $2K, maybe even the D500 will see a slight drop in price? I also shoot Fujis and the X-T3 being $200-300 cheaper than D500 makes it really attractive some days, but I'm holding out for an F-mount body for my 200-500, a stellar DX or FX deal.
840g !!!
That is almost the weight of the D810 at 880g.
Just from weight point of view, I would get the D810 rather than the D780.
The D750 is looking like a better alternative, for me.
I do understand, more stuff/features in the camera = more weight.
some major spec has been withheld and not leaked. The pricing makes no sense.
Still waiting for Nikon's version of the M10
We're not getting something here... some major spec has been withheld and not leaked. The pricing makes no sense.

The NR site has had this note all day: "Note: Nikon China prices for new products are typically about 15% higher due to VAT."
So if the "about $2000" is based on the CNY price, then it is possible the D780 is really about $1750. Perhaps?
