I captured this image of a single Maple leaf this afternoon with my D80, Nikkor 105 VR and two flash units. The SB-800 was placed directly behind and below the leaf and was the primary lighting source. The SB-600 was placed to the side of the leaf to bring out some of the texture.

As always, comments are welcomed and appreciated.

cool leaf ....lighting brings out the texture. the bottom right is hot. david

Thanks David.

Yeah...I think I might have positioned the flash unit too close to the bottom right of the leaf. I even tried darkening that area a bit using control points in Capture NX. But, I didn't want to lose any more of the texture.

I tried another one during the same session. I think this one might be just a little better in that regard:

Hey Glenn -

Nice work and execution here. I'll guess that you dialed in some serious EV compensation on these - is that right?

Thanks Eric.

Actually, both of the photos that I've posted in this thread had EV compensations of +0.3 on the camera. The flash compensations were approximately -0.7 on the primary and -2.7 on the secondary flash.
