does the d80 work with a older sb-27? i tried the camera with it and also another older speedlight (Achiever 630 AF) and i could not get either to fire..the camera acted like it wanted the onboard flash to pop up instead?

  2. I wish I could give you definitive information on this but I simply do not know. I will say that they normally have a chart in your manual that will tell you what flashes the camera will work with and in what mode.

thanks anyhow....i have the feeling that it only works with the newer sb-600/sb-800. The d80 is picky.

  4. The SB27 should fire and be usable in Manual or A (non-TTL) mode. It may set the shutter speed for you but you will not get any other "dedicated" help from it. It's too old. Which mode do you have the D80 in ?

i think most any of them will work manually...u do lose the TTL capabilities though,,but i can only speak from experience with my d50...;-)
