D810 + 200-500VR on the kayak

  1. So after my outing with the 200-500 and the D5, I really wanted to give the lens a try on the 810. Where-as I didn't find loons, I did run into a family of mallards. Here are a few. This lens continues to impress me. Even if it cost $2500, it would be a great buy. Considering it costs half of that makes it a steal.

And since you looked at this thread, I'll throw in a bonus eagle :)

  2. Beautiful Rich. Maybe nikon will offer a 100th anniversary edition for $2500:)

  3. Nice set, 2 and 4 are my favorites here. Good job shooting from a kayak.
  4. Well done Rich, love those low angles you get from shooting in a Kayak.

  5. Very nice. I love the D810 and still use it mostly for landscapes and stationary subjects. Hard to beat unless you are tracking fast moving subjects, then the D500 is the winner. Again your images from being down low on the water are super. Thanks.
  6. Sharp focus on the birds. Well taken images.
  7. Great to see some 810 shots here! Love the colors.

Very nice set! That 200-500 and D810 looks to be a nice match!

  10. Thanks everyone. I think the 200-500 is one of Nikon's best all around lenses. Easy to use hand held, excellent VR, sharp wide open, and wonderful color/contrast. The fact that it holds it own with an 810 sensor really says a lot.
