D810 horizontal /vertical shot

  1. Hi D810 shooters.

    I have the following problem with my D810.
    When pointing the camera to the ground and shoot horizontal the picture shows up in vertical view.

    What happens if you turn Auto Image Rotation = On or Off? It sound like it should probably be Off for this type of shot

    Do you mean when pointing the camera to the ground rotation should be off?

    Arthur, I think that off may work as it may be the camera cannot tell when pointing down (or up!) where it is aimed and rotation information gets screwed.

    Just my guess which may be wrong!

    I turned rotation off but it makes no difference but after i pointed the camera horizontal forwards and take a picture and then again a picture pointing to the ground the picture stays horizontal.

    Perhaps a memory effect that holds until you take the next image then it settles into your chosen mode of, Off?

    Maybe it will stay this way until you change again to Auto Rotate?

    Strange but it's only the first shot that's rotated.
