  1. Hi all there

just heard at daily tv news: "local american embassy, due to the visit of George Bush here and the contemporary presence of no-global and anti-american manifestations, advice american tourists to pay attention for the next 24 hours while in Rome for security reasons".

Hope that it remains just an info.

Italy (Country threat level - 3 - Medium ): U.S. President George W. Bush will travel to Rome on 8 June 2007 as part of a 36-hour visit to Italy to meet with Italian leaders and Pope Benedict XVI. Increased security measures are being implemented in Rome for the visit, with the deployment of approximately 10,000 Italian law enforcement personnel. Two anti-U.S. protest marches are scheduled to occur on 8 June, with estimates indicating that 200,000 people may attend. Authorities are concerned the protests could turn violent; at a minimum the protests are likely to cause disruptions to transportation due to the large number of participants and increased security measures. Operations at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport (LIRF/FCO) may be disrupted when President Bush arrives there at 2200 local time (2000 UTC) on 8 June and again when he departs on the morning of 10 June.
