Very nice Damsels. The plant looks like a thistle to me.

  3. Thanks Paul and I corrected the title :)

  4. Ooh, Ebony jewelwings. Very nice!

    Second one is the female.

    Cheers,

    Larry

I love these shots! Where do go to find them.

  6. Thanks for the identification -- I'm not at all aware of the different names etc etc. But, I'm enjoying learning and taking photos for your folks to identify.

I shot these in my backyard. We have a small creek that runs through our property and a vacant wooded lot beside of ours. Usually has some interesting stuff.

Beautiful damsels and shots. They are Jewelwings - Calopteryx, just not sure which ones you have over there.

  8. Nice Damsels, David!

  9. Thanks everyone. This is a great community for a new guy.

  10. Nice! I'm still trying to get some of those jewelwings with their wings open. I had about 6 of them dancing around the other day in the perfect light and it was unreal. As it happened I was on my first semi on purpose dragon fly hunt and quickly saw how one could get addicted to these things.
