I had the day off and I went to a local camera shop to look around. The one guy that I have always dealt with said he had just received a used lens and it was a nikkor 80-200 2.8 push pull. I looked it over and found this thing to be in pristine condition with the case, hood and uv filter. He had it listed for $550.00 I offered him $450.00 cash and he went with the deal. This is a buisness that has been around for over 30 yrs. I also got a 30 day gaurantee with it. Does this sound like a decent deal ? I took a few quick pictures with my D80 to post. Any input or thoughts welcome. Thanks Jimmy

Great deal to me! That lens is SHARP. Good job. The AFD 2 touch would have ran you at least 600

Thanks for all the great replies. I felt like the place where I bought it wouldn't do me wrong. I am just an amateur at this and it is the first time I purchased a used lens. Thanks again. Jimmy

I think for a 2.8 lens in that range you got yourself a real deal. Push/pull all you want. And have fun.

Thanks for posting these. It one of the lenses I've been curious about myself. It is very sharp. This lens as used is more than $750 in Denmark. What about AF speed?.

Great shots.

Great deal on a very nice lens. Pretty sharp at 2.8, and very sharp from 3.2 upwards. The one thing you need to be careful with is CA, but it's certainly not unreasonable for an older lens like this one. Enjoy.

Thanks everyone I feel pretty good about this purchase now that I have taken some more pictures with it. The af speed seems to be pretty good so far Torben.

I second Edwards problem. My 80-200 AF-S is causing a great deal of future problems for my bank account. Consumer grade lenses just won't do anymore!
