Just picked up my very first DSLR from ebay.Talked to the guy on the phone before making the purchase. Sounded like a nice guy. Anyway....

    Here is what I got:

    Nikon D80 - 1400 Actuations - all manuals, software
MB-80 multi power pack - charger and 2 batteries
    Nikon AF-S VR zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 G IF-ED lense
    Nikon backpack

    Everything for $900

I thought it sounded like a decent deal, and am super excited to get it here and begin my new hobby!!!

So how did I do? Also thinking about finding either a 18-70, or a 16-85 VR.
  2. Congrats and enjoy...sounds a great deal to me too:biggrin:

Sounds like a wonderful deal to me.
  5. Congratulations, glewis1.

Instead of the 16-85 (which I don't know), I'd probably get the 18-70 and a prime.

    Congrats and welcome!

Good to hear everyone agrees. I cant wait to get this thing and start snapping!! I am a bit intimidated to post pics though. Everyone has such great images they throw up, I think it will be some time before I feel comfortable.

that should be the LAST thing you do. sure, there are some great photographer's here with amazing pics. but they didn't get that way overnight or by keeping their photos in the digital dark room.

share your shots and learn how you can make them better..
  14. Looks like a good deal!
    D80 ~ little less than 600
    70-300 ~little over 400.
    Total ~ a little over 1000
Lets say you got about 10%+ discount on a fairly brand new unit! Way to go!

  15. def. a good deal!

if your estimates are close he saved 100 bucks on used camera and equipment?thats hardly a good deal.if i can save a mere 10% used ill buy new every time.you didnt get ripped odd by abny means but a good deal isnt what id call it.
mr moderator please dont suspend me again for stating my opinion.i thought thats what good web sites encouraged!
  20. If bought individually from B&H, the total would be $1250 + shipping. That's without the backpack and extra battery. Call it $1300. I'd call $900 a deal. Well done.
