DIF (ducks in flight) at Rifel sanctuary

Discussion in 'Birds' started by Beagledog, Mar 13, 2018.

  1. Georgie and I went out to Rifel Sanctuary in Delta, B.C. (outside of Vancouver) on the banks of the Fraser River. There were lots of ducks to practice on.

We were shooting with the D850 and the 200-500 F5.6

    #1 Northern Pintail on approach.

_85B5168 Northern Pintail landing on water@0,25x.
    #2 Almost there...

    _85B5172 Northern Pintail Landing@0,25x.
    #3 Tail down for landing.

_85B5213 female mallard landing on water@0,25x.
#4 a female mallard had to show how it was done...

All were shot at 1/3200 sec at F5.6

I am impressed with how well the Nikon D850 tracks focus on birds flying right at me.

  3. very nice catch, reminds me of Ducking days
  4. Lord love a duck...some great landing shots. Did you shoot continuous group?
  5. Hi Bohdan,

I was shooting D25 continuous. I find that group sometimes goes where I don't want it to go while D25 covers my shakes when I am holding a long lens.
