Difference between D300 & D70 NEFs?

Discussion in 'Nikon DX DSLR Forum' started by Marlene, Sep 10, 2008.

  1. I use a slideshow program called ProShow Producer (Photodex.com) which claims that Nikon NEFs are supported. When I add a slide from the D70 they show fine but comparable to a plain piece of white paper with the D300 NEFs. So what is the difference between the two camera NEFs?

  2. The NEF extension on the camera files just help the computer understand which applications it should try to use to work with the file. The actual objects in the file change from one camera to the next - that's why we have to keep updating Adobe Camera Raw, etc to handle files from new cameras as they become available.

  3. Okay. I forgot about having to update Adobe Camera Raw.

    Thanks.
