different flash exposers

I have a D200 and a SB800.

When I have the flash mounted on the camera and the flash put on "TTL BL FP" and the camera on A I get different exposers when using aperture 1.8 and say 5.6. Should it not be the same when I have it on this settings? Im using matrix meetering.

Try setting the flash to TTL, instead of TTL-BL.

Adjusting the f/stop will change the exposure of the image background, but not the subject.
Use TTL BL for fill-in flash.
Use TTl for indoors
