Diving kingfisher, splashing osprey

Took the family down to the river this evening. Had a very stressful day at work and wanted mostly to sit there and watch the sun go down. Even with my wife, three kids and dog all around me, the birds still put on a show! Ain't life grand?

Didn't realize I'd caught this little devil bird in the air until I got home and downloaded.



This poor osprey worked really hard to get a fish, then dropped it!



Had to fly away with empty claws - this time.

 

Thanks Dianne, Gale and Eric. My 3-year-old son keeps asking to look at the photos of the kingfisher. He was looking at this photo just now and said "I wish I had kingfisher hair." Ha!
