Thirsty 3 week old Least Tern, Anastasia Island, FL. As of yesterday, the season is officially over (as declared by me anyway). There are no more nests and the remaining chicks are able to fly. It was the most successful nesting colony in the eight years I've been hanging out there.
One more, in full, flapping sprint after a parent with a fish. This bird is about 30 feet away and it's 4 inches tall. The 500 f/4 does a good job tracking these fast runners.
