Do you use lens caps?

I just now remembered that I met a photographer specializing in night photography who paints his lens caps with bright, phosphorescent colors. When he takes the cap off and drops it on the ground, it's easy to find in the darkness of the night.

I would also add on to my previous post that instead of filters, I rely on lens hoods to protect the front element. Not only from out side objects, stray light, but also from my grubby fingers from touching the front element when I reach for the lens.

Always use lens caps. They only come off when I am shooting.

Rangefinders are especially suitable for shooting with the lens cap on. Happened all the time with my Konica Hexar (the 35mm fixed lens type). Now when I turn my Z6 on, I panic thinking the camera is broken when I don't see any illumination coming on, before I realize that the lens cap is still on.

What a great idea. Other things they could be used for is a hockey puck, Christmas tree ornament, skeet shooting clay, shuffle board, ear rings, the list just keeps going on.
