Does anyone here use Cokin XPro ND grads?

Discussion in 'Lens Lust' started by puddleduck, Jul 20, 2008.

  1. Not sure if this really in the right place... not really a lens as such, but a filter FOR a lens... the Nikkor 14-24 in this case.

Anyhow... does anyone here use Cokin XPro ND grads?

Any colour cast issues (I cannot use my Cokin "P" grads anymore due to the sepia colour cast)

These XPro ND are big enough to handhold or bluetak over the 14-24...
  2. I think the Cokin NDs are not really neutral... they have a grey cast. I use Z-Pro holders but use the HiTech filters. I hope this helps.
  3. Thanks - I'll look into the "Z" system, thats a new one on me.

I use HighTech Grads now, I got a "P" fit set a while ago, and they don't have the colour cast issue.

    Cheers :)
  4. I gave up on Cokins soon after I got them. I now use HiTech Grads and NDGrads. Cokins have a purple/gray cast.
  5. I use the "P" holder with Singh Ray GND's. They work fine. Have not used any other brands though.
  6. I bought a Cokin GND filter once and used it once. It had a color cast.
I then bought HighTech filters and I have been very happy ever since.

  7. Thanks - seems pretty unanimous the Cokin's have the cast, so I suspect the XPro are just larger cuts off the "P" filters.

Will pass on these, and see if I can find a Hightech version to play with.
  8. am so glad I searched and found this thread before buying
