Does D2X in HSC mode alter viewfinder image? (NFM)

Discussion in 'Nikon DX DSLR Forum' started by helmet155, Dec 1, 2005.

  1. Hi :)

I'm on the fence between a D2Hs or wait 6 months and get a D2X...

Eric if you look in, you've got me hardcore thinking of the 200-400 VR...

hsc, does not alter viewfinder image

when using hsc, corners of viewfinder screen blink, showing you where hsc kicks in and reduces image area.

    very simple

  3. The HCS on the D2x is basically giving you a smaller field of view. It utilizes on the central 6.9Mpix of the sensor and instead of the 1.5X FOV crop you get a equivalent of a 2.0X FOV crop....

  4. Is there an easy way to explain the technical aspect of how the FOV crop changes from 1.5x to 2.0x?

  5. Yes there is but I have to find it somehwere...

  6. Cool read, thanks Eric...

With the HSC option now that I understand it, the D2X is in my future*.

    * Subject to change at any moment 8)

  7. Well, you should rent the 200-400VR from Calumet Camera in Santa Ana for a weekend.. and see how you like it...

  8. Do they charge you for the value of the lens when you rent?

  9. No they take the credit card as insurance but only charge you the rental fee....
