Does this B/W conversion work?

This is what I did.

In nikon capture

0) Set black and white points in curves dialog
1) Photo effects, select B/W
2) Enhance dark tones
3) Pushed red channel to the right
4) Pushed yellow / blue all the way to 0
5) Nudged Magenta / Green channel down to taste

Opened the image in PS

6) Partial sharpening of eyes.

Beautiful child. I prefer color most of the time. This looks good.

The conversion looks fine, Anand. I usually use the channel mixer method. It allows me a lot of control in fine tuning the result.

I like this pensive pose a lot... but to my eye, that intruding finger detracts...
