Oh how I wish I had some cardinals or hummingbirds to photograph

Instead I get these eating all my sunflower hearts.

  2. Simon, these are wonderful! The pigeon is very pretty and not sure what the other bird is, but still very pretty! I get tons of doves in my yard and yep, I get tired of them - in fact, I quit taking photos of them. Now, I wait for the prettier birds to shoot at. Keep it up! Feed em if you have to!

    These with your 500?

Nice shots, nothing wrong with the pidges, may i suggest a lower angle for the blackbirds?

Thanks Paul. These were taken with the 70-200+TC14E at f/4. I agree about the lower angle. I had to take these from an upstairs window since every time I went out to the garden our doberman decided to come out to play too, which meant no birds in sight!

Thanks Dianne. I keep deciding to stop taking pictures of pidgeons and then take more when they come back to the garden. I did see some jackdaws, starlings, robins and magpies but they won't come near the feeder when the pidgeons are around. They are greedy birds!
