An Aeshna palmata male. Sometimes you don't have the lens that will allow you to include the whole subject in the frame, but you just have to live with it. These were all shot with a D810, Mitutoyo M Plan Apo 5x infinity microscope objective mounted on a 200mm Micro-Nikkor, f4@1/60, ISO64, focus stacked using a StackShot, processed with Zerene Stacker and Photoshop.

A 100% crop of the above shot. The ommatidia of the eye create interesting illusions depending on the angle from which they are viewed.

Thanks Jim. #1 anterior was 258 shots, #2 dorsal was 192 shots, and #3 lateral was 225 shots.
