The drop-in filter adapter was the best part of the Canon mirrorless announcement IMO. Such an ingenious design, allowing you to use smaller, lighter, and cheaper filters (even on lenses that can't accept front-mount filters).

I really wish Nikon would've done something similar, offering a "upgraded" FTZ.

Yes!! I have been waiting for something like this!! I use a sigma art wide angle for my Astro shots and that large bulbous glass isn’t kind for filters haha.

I wonder if there will eventually be something like this for native lenses.
I'm the farthest thing from an expert on optics, but I think the only practical method of making that happen would be if the camera manufacturers design their bodies and/or lenses to accommodate such a filter. I actually wonder if the camera manufacturers being supported by this product line designed the adaptor to accommodate them.

Interesting concept. Curious how it will develop, especially for native mounts without a FTZ adapter. As more Z mount lenses are released, the need for the adapter will diminish.
