This was taken at the Tennessee Aquarium. I know it's not that great a shot (and it's not a flight shot at that  )....but I just wondered if anyone can tell me what type of duck it is...

    Leigh,

I'm pretty sure that it is a Wood Duck. A very nice one I might add.

    Hi Leigh -

I'm sure Frank nailed the ID, but I just wanted you to know that I'll be LOL all night about your flight shot comment.

  7. It's a decoy duck, some people call them woodies.  Wood ducks are sooo colorful aren't they?

Thanks for your replies everyone. This was the best shot I could get of this duck as there was this man who decided he wanted to occupy the same spot I was...at the same time I was trying to shoot a few pictures. And since he was about 4 times my size, he kept bumping me just as I was taking the picture they were mostly blurred. Then finally the duck jumped in the water and swam off.....some people!

Thanks for the ID! (And smart comments  )
