This was one of my first attempts at a Bald Eagle. This was last year.
St. Marks NWR.
D2H, 600mm with a 2X extender, 1/160, F11
It is not as sharpe as I would have liked it to be.
Conditions were not the greatest. Windy and and sort of a gray hazy day.

I would have liked to have been closer but about 100 yards of waist deep swamp and 50 alligators and no telling how many snakes(BTW I hate snakes)kept me getting there.

It has been cropped and worked in Photoshop.

Russ,

As you have said maybe a bit soft, but still a very nice shot. The 2X TC and wind on that lens sure makes for some tough conditions. You need to come up our way. No alligators - no swamp - and you can get much closer. I've even heard that there's one nesting downtown on a light standard at one of the local ballparks, although I haven't been down to verify it yet. :)

Thanks for sharing. :):)

Very nice capture Russ especially considering the bad conditions and that some mean critters in the area were looking at you and commenting to themselves, "he'd be a nice capture, don't you think?". Find a safer location and nail that perfect shot...we'll be here waiting to see it.
